Facial Treatment in Singapore: Refresh Your Look and Enhance Your Beauty

What Are Facial Treatments?

Facial treatments are non-invasive skincare routines designed to improve your skin’s health and appearance. Established in 1997, HAACH has spent the past 27 years refining our skincare techniques to better serve our clients – a demographic comprising men and women aged from their 20s all the way up to their 70s.

At HAACH, we make your skin our #1 priority. Our therapists will perform a full skin analysis on your skin, ensuring the facial treatment is tailored to your unique skin conditions. This attention to detail means you get the best results, whether it’s deep cleansing, acne scar treatment or a facial for men. To put on a spin on a popular saying: try (see) it to believe it.

How Do Facials Work?

Facials clean and refresh your skin. They remove dirt and dead skin cells, and make your face look brighter. Facials also remove blackheads (clogged pore that appears dark due to oxidation) and whiteheads (closed pore filled with sebum and dead skin cells).

You can choose different types of facials depending on your skin needs. For example, a brightening facial will make dull skin look more alive and an antioxidant facial will protect your skin from damage caused by pollution and stress. Antioxidants are like superheroes for your skin, fighting off those bad molecules that make you age faster.

Facial Conditions Our Facial Treatments Can Help You With

  • Oily Skin: Go for facials that control oil and unclog pores. Salicylic acid or clay masks are great for reducing oiliness and preventing clogged pores. These facials are perfect for blackheads and whiteheads, common concerns for oily skin.
  • Combination Skin: Look for facials that balance hydration and oil control. Hyaluronic acid (a substance that helps keep skin hydrated and plump) and tea tree oil, or niacinamide for oil control, can work for both oily and dry areas. These facials can also address enlarged pores in the T-zone while keeping the cheeks and other dry areas moisturised.
  • Sensitive Skin: Sensitive skin needs gentle care. Go for facials with calming ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, or calendula. These treatments are great for managing rosacea (chronic skin condition causing redness, swelling and visible blood vessels), eczema (inflammatory skin condition characterised by itchy, red, and dry patches), or contact dermatitis (skin irritation caused by direct contact with allergens or irritants), reducing inflammation, and soothing redness without irritating the skin.
  • Dry Skin: For dry skin, hydrating facials that focus on replenishing moisture are key. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalane and glycerin lock in moisture, improve skin elasticity and relieve flakiness and dry patches. These treatments are also good for xerosis (very dry skin) or psoriasis.
  • Dehydrated Skin: Often mistaken for dry skin, dehydrated skin lacks water not oil. Look for facials that focus on deep hydration with hyaluronic acid and other moisture binding ingredients to plump and glow your skin.
  • Dull Skin: If your skin looks tired and lacks radiance, consider facials that include exfoliation, brightening agents like vitamin C or oxygen therapy to revive your complexion.
  • Blackheads: Enlarged or clogged pores can lead to texture and blackheads. Facials that include deep cleansing, exfoliation and extraction techniques like salicylic acid or steam can help clear and refine your pores.
  • Acne: If you have acne-prone skin, look for facials that target acne at its root. Treatments with benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or salicylic acid are effective for cystic acne, pustules, papules, preventing future breakouts. Regular facials can also help manage post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) left behind by acne. Blackheads and whiteheads can also be addressed with these treatments.
  • Hyperpigmentation and Dark Spots: If you have melasma, age spots or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), choose facials with brightening agents like vitamin C, kojic acid or alpha arbutin. These ingredients can lighten dark spots, even out skin tone, and reduce discolouration.
  • Ageing: To address signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity or sagging skin, look for facials with retinoids, peptides or collagen-boosting ingredients. Microcurrent therapy or radiofrequency facials can also firm up the skin and give you a youthful glow.
  • Sun Damage Skin: If your skin shows signs of sun damage like sunspots, freckles, or uneven texture, opt for facials with antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin C. Treatments with enzymatic peels or chemical exfoliants can resurface the skin and improve its overall tone and texture.
  • Uneven Skin: Rough or bumpy skin can benefit from facials that include microdermabrasion, chemical peels or enzyme treatments that smooth and even out the skin surface.
  • Rosacea: If you have rosacea, a condition characterised by redness, swelling and visible blood vessels, go for facials that focus on calming inflammation. Ingredients like green tea extract, azelaic acid and licorice root are known for their soothing properties and can reduce the visible signs of rosacea.
  • Redness: If your skin is red beyond rosacea, consider facials with anti-inflammatory ingredients like centella asiatica (herbal extract known for soothing, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties), calendula (flower extract with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and skin-healing benefits) or chamomile to calm and soothe the skin and reduce overall redness.
  • Dark Circles: Persistent dark circles under the eyes can make you look tired and aged. Facials that include ingredients like vitamin K, caffeine, and brightening agents can help reduce their appearance, improving overall facial radiance.
  • Tired Skin: Tired, fatigued skin lacks vibrancy and can appear dull. Facials that focus on deep hydration, brightening, and revitalising ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and oxygen therapy can help rejuvenate and refresh your complexion.
  • Sagging: Loss of skin firmness can result from ageing or weight fluctuations. Facials that use radiofrequency, microcurrent, or collagen-boosting ingredients can lift and tighten the skin, restoring a youthful, firm appearance.
  • Puffiness: Fluid retention and poor circulation can cause puffiness especially around the eyes. Facials that include lymphatic drainage massage or cooling treatments will reduce swelling, improve circulation and give the skin a more contoured look.

Facial Treatment Procedure

Before the Procedure

  • Consultation: Book a consultation to discuss your skin concerns and goals with a skincare professional. This is an important step in customising the treatment to your individual needs.
  • Skincare Preparation: Don’t use retinoids (types of vitamin A, used to improve the skin), acids or exfoliants for at least a week before your treatment to minimise sensitivity and reactions. Also do a patch test if you are trying a new treatment to make sure you don’t have an allergy. Apply a small amount of the product to a discreet area of skin, like your inner forearm. Wait 24-48 hours to check for any reaction.
  • Health and Lifestyle: Let your skincare professional know about any medications you are taking that can affect your skin’s sensitivity. Limit sun exposure and apply sunscreen of between 30 and 50 SPF before the procedure.

During the Procedure

  • Cleansing: The treatment starts with a deep cleanse to remove makeup, dirt and excess oils from the skin.
  • Exfoliation: Next, exfoliation is done either mechanically or chemically to remove dead skin cells and smooth out the skin surface.
  • Hydration and Nourishment: The skin is then treated with moisturisers and hydrating serums to replenish and lock in moisture, essential for your skin’s elasticity and softness.
  • Customised Treatment Steps: Depending on the facial chosen, additional steps like masks, LED therapy or massage may be added to address specific skin concerns.

Aftercare and Maintenance

  • Post-Treatment Care: Use a gentle cleanser and a hydrating moisturiser to maintain the skin’s moisture balance. Don’t use harsh skincare products and exfoliants for the first few days after the facial.

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out and enhance the effects of the facial treatment.

  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen is essential to protect the new skin layer from UV damage. Avoid heavy makeup and prolonged sun exposure for at least 24 hours to allow the skin to settle.

Environment: Stay away from high-heat environments like saunas or steam rooms for a couple of days to prevent irritation and swelling.

FAQs

Do Facials Actually Work?

Yes they do! They clean, exfoliate and nourish your skin, for a clear, hydrated complexion. Regular facials can improve skin tone, texture and overall appearance by addressing specific concerns like acne, dryness or signs of ageing. Plus, they boost circulation and encourage relaxation for healthier, brighter skin.

Why Do We Customise Our Face Treatments in Singapore?

We customise because different skin conditions need different care. For example, anti-aging facials treats wrinkles and fine lines, while brightening facials treats dullness and pigmentation. Using the wrong treatment may not only not give you the results you want, but also worsen your skin condition. By tailoring each treatment to your needs, you get the best results for healthier, glowing skin.

Are Facial Treatments Painful?

No, most facial treatments are not painful and are generally designed to be relaxing and rejuvenating. However, some procedures like chemical peels may cause mild discomfort.

What Is the Best Facial Treatment?

The best facial treatment is one that’s tailored to you and your skin. Don’t settle for one size fits all – get professional advice for best results.

Can I See Results With Just One Facial Treatment?

Yes, you can see immediate results with some facial treatments that focus on issues like water retention and facial asymmetry.

Help… Why Am I Breaking Out After My Facial?

Don’t worry: that’s called purging and it’s normal. It just means the treatment is speeding up your cell turnover and bringing out all the dirt and bacteria that was underneath. This is common especially after your first facial or when you start using new products, and usually subsides within a week or two. Regular facials and good skincare can help minimise purging.

To know if it’s a breakout or an allergic reaction, observe the symptoms: breakouts are pimples or blackheads while allergic reactions are redness, itching, swelling or hives. If you’re in severe discomfort or symptoms persist, see a dermatologist.

How Often Should I Do a Facial?

The frequency of facials should be based on your skin type and condition. Consulting with a skincare professional can help you establish the ideal schedule.

How Many Facials Do I Need?

The number of facials needed varies based on skin type, goals, and treatment type. Generally, one monthly session is recommended for maintenance.

How Many Days Does a Facial Last?

The effects of a facial typically last 48 to 72 hours. Regular facials, approximately every 4-6 weeks, help maintain these effects and improve overall skin health.

What’s the Minimum Age to do a Facial Treatment?

There is no age too young to start taking care of your skin with facials. Teens can benefit from facials, especially if they have acne or oily skin. Do note that if you’re under 21, you’ll need to be accompanied by a guardian at HAACH.

Is Exfoliation Necessary Before a Facial?

Exfoliation is recommended before a facial to remove dead skin cells and improve the treatment’s effectiveness. It can be performed mechanically or chemically.

When Can I Shower After a Facial?

Wait at least 6-8 hours before showering after a facial to allow your skin to fully absorb the treatment. Use gentle products and lukewarm water.
